The Glasses Don't Make the Woman
This tumblr is dedicated to the utter fablulousness that is Victoria (Vicki) Vantoch.

Vicki Vantoch is the author of The Threesome Handbook: A Practical Guide to Sleeping with Three and wrote a Doctoral Dissertation on Airline Stewardess in the Cold War (which is now her second novel: The Jet Set). Vicki is married to Misha Collins and lives in Pasadena, California with him and their two children, West and Maison.

thank you so much :) do you know where she studied? because it's really hard to find a university where you can study history of sex and gender :(

over

Vicki attended The University of Chicago where she received her B.A. in Anthropology and studied for a year at the University of Oxford (in England). And she has her doctorate (PhD) in history from the University of Southern California.

We hope that helps you!

"When I started researching airline stewardesses, I found that the topic made for amusing cocktail party banter.
“You’re writing a book about that? Wow, what fun!”
Yes, it was fun, but it was also serious history. Pretty women do not fit into what we have come to think of as serious history. Real history covers topics like Lincoln, World War II, or, frankly, anything involving powerful white males."

do you know how to become a sexual historian? because it seems like a really interesting thing to do

over

We have to be honest in saying that we are not exactly one hundred percent sure how one becomes a sex historian.

From what we know about Vicki we know that she studied the History of Human Sexuality and Gender while researching for her Doctoral Dissertation on airline stewardesses in the Cold War, which later became her novel, The Jet Sex. So, since in order to attain a PhD one has to write a Doctoral Dissertation, we assume that since Vicki researched and studied the History of Human Sexuality and Gender in doing this dissertation that is how one becomes a Sex Historian?

We also know that Vicki is very interested in gender and sex and the way that each are related to society.

We hope this was at least somewhat helpful. Maybe.

If anyone has more (actual) evidence or information, please leave a comment on this post and we will edit it to include the proper facts.

"Supposedly the “fools” who purchase
pseudo-luxury items like mail-order chandeliers and Kmart
evening wear, trailer residents allegedly lack appreciation for
individuality, authenticity and quality. In this sense, trailer
residents epitomize American culture and symbolize the more
disturbing aspects of its consumerism."

"While marital status and biological motherhood are not usually a basis for criticism, reproduction and child-rearing are areas subject to criticism and pollution. Park residents repeatedly expressed child-rearing as crucial. They occasionally mentioned whether a child was raised by his/her “real parents”, but they frequently commented on how a child should be raised by a person who acts “like a real mama should.” Motherly behavior is not confined to women, nor the biological mother, but extends to anyone who raises the child “right."
